Odd Facts: Boone Lantern

In 1884, railway crews logged an unmarked signal lantern near Boone that burned for three nights without oil.

Archive clerks recorded no supply requisition, no maintenance notation, and no witness account identifying the lamp bearer. The recurring detail in every account is the same: no wind could extinguish the flame.
